Education - The Time is Now

Professor Jim Watterston, Dean of the Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE), launched the School's new five-year strategic plan at the MGSE's annual 'Setting the Scene' all staff event on Friday, 4 March 2022.

The new strategy, titled 'Education - The Time is Now,' will serve as the guiding framework for the MGSE community over the next five years in all of its activity areas, which the new strategy refers to as pillars, including People and Culture, Students, Research, Learning and Teaching, and Community.

The pillars outlined above are anchored and viewed through the lens of MGSE’s foundational commitments to the inclusion and recognition of Indigenous knowledges and histories, inclusion and diversity, sustainability, the school’s place in the world, and engagement with a wide range of partners.

Professor Watterston expressed his hope that the new strategic plan would provide the MGSE community with the ambition to innovate, support, and participate in the educational solution space in order to address the numerous global challenges we face on a domestic and international scale.

"Up until now, we've prepared people for a career; now, with our new plan, we need to focus our efforts on preparing people to be change agents, innovators, to invent, discover, and define a new world of work," he said.
