The University commenced the Students with Additional Needs (SWANs) program of work in 2007 to develop an integrated set of assessment, reporting, and tailored intervention strategies to describe and monitor the learning of students with additional needs across foundational skills.

ABLES and Early ABLES
Following a foundational research partnership with the Victorian Department of Education to develop the SWANs assessment and reporting tools, further research was conducted to adapt and tailor the SWANs materials for other contexts.
