Ruby: A powerful assessment platform
Not like other assessment platforms
Ruby is a cloud-based multi-tenant software that can assess learners in traditionally difficult-to-assess areas of learning.
It is a world-class, research-based, strategic initiative of Melbourne Metrics supporting assessment, certification, moderation and credentialling of capability in high-stakes, standards-based but non-standardised, performance-oriented developmental assessment for 21st-century learners.
It provides assessment rigour and technical quality, and is built from years of research and project experiences.
Ruby is designed to support many types of users, including system curriculum leaders; school leadership; teachers; students; module designers; external assessors; and stakeholders/parents.
Ruby leverages expert human judgments from across a learner's educational program to assess growth in competence and represent what a learner knows and can do. Their strengths are calibrated against a common currency and the platform provides utility for all in the learning community.
The platform offers the following reports:
- Learner Competency Reports (e.g., Rockets)
- Class and School reports
- Profile reports (e.g., Learner Profiles or Credentials)
The platform supports the following assessment methods:
- Rubric
- Quiz
- Highlight
It provides facilities to allow a quick input of manual marking.
Ruby relies on strong cryptography and security protocols TLS, 1.2 or above, to safeguard all traffic data during transmission. Ruby:
- Is multitenancy capable, with separated data stores
- Provides standard end-user security mechanisms, such as: password policy, session control, authentication, 2FA
- Has permission-based access control
- Manages consent from users
- Ensures personal identifiers and sensitive details are encrypted and protected
- Has gone through a series of security penetration tests both internally and externally providing a high level of confidence in its conformity with international security standards
