AERC staff and graduate researchers, were proudly represented at the recent Faculty of Education Research Conference, 24 October, 2024 and the Graduate Research Showcase 23 October 2024.
Faculty of Education Research Conference
AERC staff showcased their current research at the Faculty of Education Research Conference on 24 October 2024. Presentations from AERC staff included:
- Laura Smith: Understanding Teacher Readiness to Support Student Mental Health and Wellbeing.
- A/Prof. Kim Keamy: Navigating change in higher education: Exploring academics' turning points through text, sound and images. Kim Keamy, Nicky Dulfer, Mark Selkrig.
- Dr. Ghislain Arbour: Lack of Discipline: Answering Scriven’s Call for Value in (Program) Evaluation Faculty of Education Research Conference, University of Melbourne.
- Dr. Rebekah Luo, Dr. Sundance Zhihong Sun and Dr Emma Carter: Evaluation of the Super Powers Program in the Philippines.
Graduate Research Showcase

Our graduate researchers also presented at the Graduate Research Showcase the day before on 23 October 2024. This event was run by the GRC Executive Committee, which included AERC staff members Laura Smith as Chair and Vincent Liang as Treasurer, also supported by the Faculty of Education. There were four AERC presentations at the Showcase.
- Vincent Liang: Using Cultural-Historical Activity Theory to investigate teacher agency in content and language integrated classrooms.
- Katina Tan: The relationship between student engagement and student learning outcome in Malaysian schools.
- Nadine Rissik: How an inclusive school environment can support student school attendance and engagement.
- Laura Smith: Understanding Teachers’ Readiness to Support Student Wellbeing.
