New AITSL Grant Award to AERC
AERC has been awarded the ‘Moderation Process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher Certification’ by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).
AITSL sought an expert review of the initial national moderation process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) Certification, to provide recommendations to adapt or reimagine the process for future years national moderations. This work reflects a change to the certification process. Moving forward, all submissions for certification at the HALT levels will remain aligned to the domains and standards described in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. However, certifying jurisdictions and organisations will be permitted to vary the specifics of the submission requirements. This introduction of flexibility means that direct comparison of submissions is likely to no longer be a practical approach for national moderation. The project will reimagine a system that retains appropriate measurement quality while supporting a degree of personalisation, one that can support continued enhancement in upcoming cycles of moderation.
