"Combining paired comparisons of item difficulty with item response data to increase item calibration precision in small sample contexts"

Nathan is Research Director of the Methodology and Measurement Program at the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). Prior to joining ACER, Nathan was Principal Psychometrician at the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority from 2011-2018, and from 2004-2011 he held various research positions at the Assessment Research Centre, University of Melbourne. Nathan’s research interests in educational measurement and statistics are broad, with his professional experience spanning traditional and innovative assessments in school education, licensure and certification, language testing and human resources psychometric testing. He is a member of the OECD PISA 2022 Creative Thinking Expert Group, a member of England’s Standards and Testing Agency Technical Advisory Group, and Treasurer of the Executive Committee of the Australian Consortium for Social and Political Research (ACSPRI).
