Abstract

The Musica Viva In Schools program caters to both secondary and primary settings. This study examined and evaluated the implementation of one offering (the gamelan group, Byar) and the accompanying teaching kit in a metropolitan primary school. The findings included information for the improvement and broadening of the Musica Viva program to take greater account of the needs and interests of the primary generalist rather than the specialist.

Methodology

The project involved nine teachers and data was collected primarily through interviews and observations over the two school terms between the original PD session for teachers and the school performance by Byar.
