Financial support

There is a wide range of funding opportunities available to both future and current students, including government and university student loan schemes, grants, tax and budgeting advice, and other forms of financial support.

Australian Government loan schemes

If you're an Australian citizen, you may be able to defer all or part of your fees through FEE-HELP or HECS-HELP. With both schemes, you do not need to repay the loan until your income reaches a minimum repayment threshold. The loan program you can access depends on the fee place you are offered:

• Australian fee-paying place - you may be eligible for FEE-HELP;
• Commonwealth Supported Place -you may be eligible for the HECS-HELP.

University of Melbourne Financial Aid Services

Financial Aid provides advice and information on the cost of living in Melbourne, student loans and grants, government student assistance, budgeting, tax, and a range of other matters relating to student finances.

Research Training Scheme

From 1 January, 2017, the Research Training Scheme (RTS) will be replaced by the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships.
