The Faculty of Education Research Conference, held on Thursday, October 24, was a vibrant showcase of the remarkable work undertaken by the faculty's researchers.

This year’s theme What makes research remarkable? Who and what matters?, presented eloquently in a keynote address by Professor Julie McLeod, provided a lens through which attendees explored the depth and diversity of education research. Her insights set the tone for an inspiring day.

Breakout sessions spotlighted an impressive array of research, offering perspectives from graduate researchers and academics alike. Highlights included Dr. Emily White's presentation on improving braille literacy education for students with vision impairment and the unveiling of the Wellbeing Integrated Learning Design (WILD) framework by Dr. Lara Mossman and Dr. Rachel Colla, a transformative approach to creating enabling learning environments.

The conference’s proceedings concluded with a thought-provoking panel discussion, chaired by Professor Jan van Driel, on the question, What makes research remarkable? Who and what matters? Panelists included graduate researcher Katrina Lawrence-Honeycombe, early career researcher Dr. Cristina Guarrella, mid-career researcher Associate Professor Jon Quach, and Professor Kate Reynolds, who each shared unique insights on the future of impactful research.

The day ended with a networking event, where the faculty acknowledged its 2024 graduate researchers for their achievements.

This year’s conference not only highlighted the faculty’s commitment to advancing knowledge but also reinforced its vibrant, collaborative research community.
