WA Melbourne Assessment Network uniting New Metrics and MAC schools
The WA Melbourne Assessment Network meetings create the opportunity for WA school leaders and teachers involved in either a New Metrics Research Partnership or the Melbourne Assessment Community (MAC) to connect, share, and grow the valid assessment and recognition of complex competencies in their school communities.
This WA cross-sectoral network meets once a term and the ‘New Metrics in Action’ Term 3 meeting was held on Wednesday 28 August, 2024. The WA Network is led by the Anglican Schools Commission, All Saints’ College and Methodist Ladies’ College.
John Wollaston Anglican Community School hosted this terrific event in Term 3 with over thirty people attending the meeting from a range of education sectors.

The meeting commenced with a ‘Spotlight session’ and mini-expo from John Wollaston, led by Rebecca Piccolo, Dean of Teaching and Learning to showcase student learning design with teachers and students sharing their insights on projects developed across Learning Areas.
Celena Mecham, Head of Secondary (Teaching and Learning) from Swan Valley Anglican Community School presented on ‘The Swan Valley Learner Profile and New Metrics in Action for 2024’. Robert Dodds, Coordinator of Innovation and Learning Technology from Methodist Ladies’ College also shared the College’s New Metrics work on ‘Resourcing Intentional Learning Design’.
A WA Teams page for additional sharing and collaboration amongst the network has also been established. People remained well after the close of the meeting sharing and discussing ideas which is a clear sign that the collaboration and connection amongst this network is strong.

The next WA Melbourne Assessment Network meeting is scheduled for Term 4 on Wednesday 23 October at Methodist Ladies’ College with Jayne Johnston, Melbourne Enterprise Fellow presenting at this event.
