Do learning areas have caps?

Yes, our learning areas can be capped and have quotas based on placement availability. Applications are assessed on a rolling basis and are open approximately one year from the course commencement date. We recommend applying for the program early as learning areas may reach capacity closer to application closing dates.

If you are currently studying to meet learning area requirements, you can still apply for the program. When applying, you will need to provide evidence of enrolment in any current tertiary studies for a conditional offer to be issued, guaranteeing you a place in the learning area if you successfully meet the condition of the offer (i.e. successful completion of the subjects you are studying).

Please note that eligibility of learning areas does not guarantee an offer of a place. As part of the selection process, eligible applicants will be ranked by our Selection Committee according to prior academic performance and the results of the Teacher Capability Assessment Tool (TCAT) selection test.  Applicants to the Master of Teaching (Secondary) Internship must also meet additional entry requirements. Students must have two learning areas that have not yet reached capacity to gain entry into the program.

Please note: Learning areas that have reached capacity will be indicated. Please check our Master of Teaching (Secondary) Learning Areas page regularly for updates.
