The Wei Family Education Scholarship
This scholarship looks to reward mature teaching candidates from diverse cultural and societal backgrounds moving into Secondary school teaching.
The Wei Family Education Scholarship was established to acknowledge and reward the courage and risk involved in a career change and to show appreciation for the devotion to education that mature teaching candidates from diverse cultural and societal backgrounds bring to the profession. Providing support to a total value of $20,000 the donor, Nina Wei, aims to fuel innovation in teaching practice and reform education philosophies based on real-life experiences.
The scholarship will open for applications on 1 October and close 30 November, 2023 for course commencement in 2024.
Key eligibility
Consider applying for this scholarship if you:
- are commencing the Master of Teaching (Secondary) or Master of Teaching (Secondary) Internship at the Faculty of Education (previously the Melbourne Graduate School of Education) as a domestic student in 2024
- have a minimum of five years professional experience* and can demonstrate that your application represents a professional career change
- can demonstrate a passion for teaching
- are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances
*If no such candidate applies in a particular year applicants with 3-5 years professional experience may be considered.
