Enrolling in the Master of Teaching

Congratulations on receiving an offer for the Master of Teaching. To complete your registration follow the steps contained here.

You will receive a welcome email from the Dean of the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, containing the details of your offer and your student ID number, which you need to accept your offer and enrol.

Once you receive the email from the Dean, follow the instructions below to accept your offer and complete your enrolment.

Please read all of the information on this page and our further enrolment information before you start, and note important dates in your diary.

Please note you cannot accept your offer and enrol until you receive your welcome email containing your student ID.

Step 1: Accepting your offer

To accept your offer and enrol, visit get started at Melbourne.

Here you need to:

  1. activate your account
  2. accept your offer
  3. enrol in your first year subjects (semester 1 and 2).

Please note: if you haven't accepted your offer and enrolled by the offer lapse date, your place in the course will lapse.

You may be required to supply a course completion statement prior to the start of semester. If this applies to you, you will be notified by email.

Step 2: Arrange your Working with Children Check

You will need to supply a copy of your Working with Children Check (WWCC) or WWCC application receipt before you can commence the Master of Teaching. This is a mandatory requirement across Victoria.

Step 3: Submit your placement information form

Once you have activated your University of Melbourne Account via step 1 above you will be able to access our SONIA placement platform using your single sign-in account.

Once logged in, select the Forms tab and you will see a box for the Placement Information Form – select the red ‘edit’ button on the top right to commence the form. It can take a few days after account activation for the form to go live in your account. If you have not received the form after a week please contact us.

Completion of this form is a compulsory part of your enrolment, and a placement search will not commence until this form is submitted.

Step 4: Attend your course induction day

Course induction dates for students commencing the Master of Teaching in 2019 are:

  • Master of Teaching (Secondary) - 31 January 2019
  • Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) - 22 February 2019
  • Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Primary) - 22 February 2019
  • Master of Teaching (Primary) - 25 February 2019

All enrolled students will be emailed with details of these events.
