The CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) Observation Training program enables participants to develop capacity and confidence in providing feedback on teacher practice to improve children’s learning and development outcomes.
CLASS is an observation tool designed to assess classroom quality, which was developed by the University of Virginia’s Curry School Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning. The program involves trained assessors observing teacher-child interactions and providing feedback to help new and experienced teachers become more effective.
MGSE is an authorised trainer in CLASS in Australia across Toddler, Pre-K and K-3 levels.
The program is designed for trained mentors who use the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework in their daily practice and may have responsibility for leading the educational programming and practice under the National Quality Standards in their settings.
The program also helps educational leaders and teachers to lead and develop other educators in their settings.
All participants who successfully complete Reliability Testing will obtain CLASS Certification through Teachstone. This certifies participants to use CLASS for mentoring staff and improving practice in their early childhood settings. Participants who pass the Reliability Testing also become part of the Teachstone CLASS community and will receive email updates and links to further their professional learning.
