Professor Howard Williamson

Professor Howard Williamson is professor of European Youth Policy at the University of South Wales, UK. He has published well over a hundred papers on youth issues and has spoken at more than 800 national and international conferences. Professor Williamson is the author of Five Years (National Youth Bureau 1981), an ethnography of teenage offenders, and The Milltown Boys Revisited (Berg 2004), a follow-up of the teenage offenders at the age of 40. More recent publications include Supporting Young People in Europe Vol 3 (Council of Europe Publishing 2017) and the series on The History of Youth Work in Europe (Council of Europe Publishing 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2018 (forthcoming). He has written youth policy for several European countries, including Norway, Greece, Serbia and Albania. He is on the editorial board of the most prestigious youth research journals in Europe and is also a member of the international advisory group for the DfES-funded longitudinal study of young people.
