Dr Mary Leahy
Mary manages a range of research projects focussing on pathways through education and into employment and the effectiveness of different forms of vocational education and training (VET). Her research focuses on access to education, training and employment.
Specific interests include: pathways; the interface between education sectors; transitions within education and between education and employment; vocational education and training (VET); gender; the philosophical underpinnings of policy; Nussbaum and Sen's capabilities approach; and theories on choice, preference formation and decision making. She has played a significant role in winning and conducting research projects with a combined budget of over $1.4 million. Mary has written or co-written 34 articles, commissioned research reports and book chapters and presented 15 papers at international conferences. She is regularly invited to speak at conferences and seminars on VET.
