Associate Professor in Indigenous Education

Dr Melitta Hogarth has been appointed to the position of Associate Professor in Indigenous Education. This follows an external search process which was undertaken recently.

Melitta brings enormous passion and a wealth of knowledge and experience in teaching, learning and research in Indigenous Education. In this role, Melitta is brilliantly placed to lead new and exciting programs of research in this area, which will be of great benefit to our teaching, partners, and stakeholders. Congratulations Melitta.

Office of the Dean

Jacinda Liau joined the Office of The Dean as an Administration Assistant on 2 May 2022. Jacinda will provide crucial support to operational activities, including the staffing approvals process, as well as the implementation of strategic and business operational initiatives. Jacinda's working days are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

Academic Services

Jeni Rasche will be taking long service leave from Wednesday 18 May returning on Monday 22 August 2022. Sara Varzandeh will be undertaking this role in Jeni’s absence. Sara joined the team relatively recently and impressed from the start with her attitude and aptitude, so it’s very fortuitous for us and our faculty that Sara can step in. Backfilling Sara’s substantive role is Jacqui Piccone who started with us this week – we are delighted to have Jacqui on board.

Professional Experience and Partnerships team

The Professional Experience and Partnerships team has also been recruiting due to staff taking up secondment opportunities. We welcome Yvette Hovenden joining us from SASS to occupy the role temporarily vacated by Marianne. Dorothy Mak, who joined us recently on a fixed term appointment, has accepted an ongoing role in the team. A casual staff member will complete Dorothy’s initial backfill of Kapisha Patel’s role until Kapisha returns.

Accreditation & Curriculum team

The Accreditation & Curriculum team will imminently be recruiting, due to the departure of Gemma Barry who has moved to the King Valley region recently. Thank you to Jane, Suzy and Christine for working together to pick up the slack, with the support of our amazing casual colleague Vincent Ho.

Thank you to our other fantastic casual colleagues Romi Kulenthran, Aisling Eyers and Alicia Spurr. People won’t have met Alicia because she is working off campus, but Alicia has been doing a fabulous job keeping extension requests under control every day and has made an enormous difference to the student experience.

Steven Constantinos commenced in the Lab Supervisor role on Monday 23 May. Steven comes to MGSE from Faculty of Vet and Agricultural Science (Bioscience) and brings wealth of experience across Lab Tech and administrative roles. Thank you to Jas Giannakis who has been diligently and very competently holding the fort while we have been recruiting for this role.

Lee Au, Custom Education Project Manager, is on secondment until early July during which time we have Debbie Krapywnyj stepping into the breach – thank you Debbie.

Finally, many will know that Rosie is looking forward to welcoming baby #2 and will be heading off on parental leave on 24 June, so we are advertising for somebody amazing to step into her (tough to fill!) shoes as Team Leader Student Experience until April 2023. This closes 18 May.
