Recent Appointments

Associate Dean's

Associate Professor Russell Cross has been appointed as our new Associate Dean (Research). Simultaneously, Professor Sophie Arkoudis completed her two-year term as Associate Dean (Research). Thank you, Sophie, for your outstanding leadership, professionalism, and support during your time in this critical position, and congratulations on your new role as Acting Director, MCSHE.

Associate Professor Gosia Klatt has been appointed Associate Dean (Graduate Research). We would like to express our thanks to Associate Professor Shelley Gillis for serving as Assistant Dean (Graduate Research) for the past year. Shelley has overseen several significant reforms that have improved processes and structures at MGSE to ensure the fidelity of our graduate research offerings.

Russell and Gosia started their new positions on January 1, 2022. Congratulations to you both.


Director of Professional and Continuing Education

Associate Professor Jenny Chesters was selected as the successful candidate for the position of Director of Professional and Continuing Education (PACE). Jenny started in this position on January 1, 2022. Jenny, congratulations.

Thank you to Associate Professor Lisa McKay-Brown, who has made a significant contribution to MSGE as Director of PACE and will continue to do so as Assistant Dean Diversity and Inclusion in 2022.


Course Coordinators

Carmel Mesiti has been appointed to the role of Master of Teaching Primary Course Coordinator. Carmel currently leads The International Classroom Lexicon Project and co-leads the International Community for Classroom Research as well as coordinate various maths subjects within the MTeach.

Dr Emily Rochette and Dave Camilleri have both been appointed to the role of Master of Teaching Secondary Course Coordinator. Both Emily and Dave will share the role with Emily overseeing first year candidates and Dave overseeing second year candidates.

Emily currently coordinates the Chemistry Learning Area and Dave coordinates various wellbeing subjects, and a Clinical Teaching Practice subject.

Pip Robinson has been appointed the Master of Teaching Capstone Coordinator which provides oversight of Capstonesubjects across all Master of Teaching courses. I would like to recognise Pip’s work in 2021 and thank her for taking on this important leadership role.

OHS Business Partner

Georgie Annie has been appointed the new OHS Business Partner, MGSE. Georgie will support MGSE, MLS, and FBE. Georgie has been with the University for sometime, first in Student and Scholarly Services and then in FBE and Law.

We give thanks to James Vassilopoulos for his support to MGSE throughout his time with us, and we wish him well in his new role supporting the Arts Faculty.
