Refurbishment Project Update

Project update

Tender documentation has now been released for the construction work for the Staff Accommodation Refurbishment program. In the coming weeks, tender responses will be assessed by the University, a preferred construction provider selected, and construction terms negotiated. Other key project deliverables including the supply of new workstations and refurbishment of existing workstations, have already been completed and a preferred provider selected, to work in partnership with the construction firm.

Timing of Project Works

In order to minimise the impact on the peak of teaching activities in October, tender documentation has specified a construction period of mid-November through end-December 2019. By conducting major project works in this period the impact on staff and students will be minimised, with an expectation staff can commence occupancy of refurbished work areas in the New Year. Final details of the work program are subject to tender responses and pricing, with confirmation anticipated in the next few weeks.

Storage of Teaching Materials

As noted in the previous newsletter, a recurring query to the project team has been the storage of materials for teaching, which for some staff includes a significant volume of material. Plans are in development for additional lockable storage within the Kwong Lee Dow building to provide for this need. If you have teaching materials which might benefit from this arrangement, please contact the project team so we can understand and plan for your needs.
