Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching)

At the end of this year, Associate Professor Larissa McLean Davies' term as Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) will come to an end. Larissa has been pivotal in developing our transformative teaching strategies and enhancing the student experience.  Larissa will be sadly missed in this capacity but is keen to focus on continuing to build and contribute to the LALE Group’s research and teaching activities.   Larissa will be embarking on a 6-month sabbatical commencing in January 2020.

Office of the Dean staff movements

Congratulations to Heather Gorham (Executive Assistant to the Dean) who has been appointed to an ongoing role within the Law Faculty as Executive Assistant to the Dean of Law. As a result of Heather's appointment, Stephanie Watson (currently Acting EA to the Dean), has accepted a permanent appointment to the EA role.

Thank you to Claudia Melogno de Sandoval, who has been backfilling the EA to the SED and Deputy Dean role for the last three months. Claudia has accpeted a full-time role in the VCCC - Melbourne Medical School and her final day with MGSE will be Friday 4 October.

As the ongoing requirements are determined for the Office of the Dean, Vicki Townsend (EA to the AD Teaching & Learning) will also be supporting the SED and Deputy Dean in the short term.


Farewell to Rossella Lo Conte

Congratulations to Rossella who has secured a new role as Business Development Associate with Research Innovation & Commercialisation (RIC) commencing this week. Rossella has most recently been performing in a seconded role as Strategic Planning Project Officer, supporting much of the strategic planning work that has occurred over the past 12 months. Prior to this role, Rossella held various roles within the Teaching & Learning team.


Appointment of Team Leader, Student Experience

Rose Joiner has been appointed to the role of Team Leader, Student Experience to MGSE. She is an alumna of the Graduate School and brings with her a wealth of knowledge with over three years experience at Stop 1 as a Team Leader. She has led a team in delivering many projects to enhance the Student Experience for the University.

Rosie will commence on Tuesday 8 October.


Finance and HR Workstream

The rebus Finance and HR Workstream are implementing enhancements to Themis Finance and changes to business rules to make it easier for researchers and research support staff to manage research project finances.  Initiatives include new capabilities to:

  • share income on cross and intra divisional projects
  • automatically allocate indirect costs (overheads) on cross and intra-divisional projects
  • view financial data on non-lead (child) project(s)
  • streamline the closure of research projects.

Coming soon:

  • Change in business rule and processes to expedite the opening of GL project codes
  • Creation of multi-year purchase orders to external collaborators.
