Nathaniel Swain teaches in the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) with a focus on language and literacy. He is currently completing his PhD conducting a language/literacy intervention study with young offenders.
Nathaniel is interested in the dynamic interaction between oral language and literacy across the lifespan, and the differences between oral and written language in the classroom and beyond. Understandings from linguistics, phonetics, and developmental science underpin his focus on language and literacy teaching.
In addition to teaching, Nathaniel is part of a team producing a literacy teaching resource for the Victorian Department of Education and Training.
