A new report on life satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 has been released today. The report entitled 'Life Satisfaction During the 2020 Pandemic in Australia' was authored by Dr Jenny Chesters, Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education and a Chief Investigator on the Life Patterns project.

Overview of the report

This report presents findings from survey data and interview data collected during 2020 from participants of Cohort 2 in the Life Patterns longitudinal research program when they were aged 31-32 years. It focuses on their responses to a series of survey questions asking them about their levels of satisfaction with various aspects of their lives. The survey was administered during the initial phase of the lockdowns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic in April and May 2020. We received completed surveys from participants residing in every Australian state, the ACT and overseas. In October-November 2020, we conducted interviews with 40 participants located across Australia about their experiences of the pandemic.
