The Centre for Wellbeing Science (CWS) is Australia’s leading research centre in positive psychology and wellbeing science. Part of the Melbourne Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne, CWS was formerly known as the Centre for Positive Psychology before changing its name in March 2021 to better reflect the broadening scope of its research. Areas of focus include wellbeing measurement and methods, wellbeing literacy and language, and systems-informed positive psychology.

Purpose

Our purpose at CWS is to advance and apply the science of wellbeing to equip and empower communities, groups and individuals to thrive. We realise this purpose by applying a strengths lens, systems thinking and multidisciplinary perspectives to enable wellbeing capabilities and nurture positive change agents in a range of contexts including education, workplaces and sport.
