Ray is a lecturer in Health, Physical Education & Sport Education at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education (MGSE). Ray’s postgraduate study focussed on educational leadership and the development of effective school leaders.
Ray now works across a number of core and Physical Education subjects in MGSE’s postgraduate Master of Teaching program and MGSE’s offerings in the undergraduate ‘Leading Community Sport and Recreation’ breadth track.
Ray has a very strong interest and personal connection with the pre-service and ongoing professional lives of teachers having spent 20+ years teaching and leading in schools across all sectors, both here in Australia and internationally.
Ray’s research interests focus on the transition and support of graduate teachers into the profession, the development of effective school leaders, teacher professional learning and the initial teacher education of Physical Education teachers. Ray has held successful partnerships with state education departments and NGOs on multiple projects to support the development of teachers and leaders and their sustainable effectiveness in classroom and school communities.
