The Olive Battersby Scholarship

Olive Battersby dedicated nearly forty years of her life (1948-1987) to the School/Faculty of Education at The University of Melbourne.

She started as an Assistant to the Dean, Professor Browne, and then through her librarianship studies became the Faculty/School librarian. Her family has established the Olive Battersby Scholarship in her memory.

The Olive Battersby Scholarship is awarded annually to a student taking the Master of Teaching program (domestic or international students, any stream*). It is awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need. The recipient will receive approximately $8,000 towards the cost of tuition and other expenses.

Applications for the Oliver Battersby Scholarship open 1 March 2017, and close on 15 March 2017.

Students will be notified about the application process via the February 2017 Melbourne Graduate School of Education Student Newsletter. All current Master of Teaching students are automatically subscribed to the newsletter.

The recipient of the Scholarship will be announced at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education Awards evening in May 2017.

*Previous recipients of this award and students completing their final 50 points of study in the Early Childhood or Secondary streams are not eligible to apply.
