IRC Winter School 2017 on International Perspectives on Education Policy
This Winter School will consider theories and methods relevant across the field of educational policy research. It is designed for PhD students, postdoctoral fellows and researchers of policy in all areas of education, but is suitable also for advanced master students.
The School will include an explicit focus on policy related to higher and adult education, but the specific content of activities will be developed in the light of the participants’ profiles.

Internship opportunity in education governance
The internship is aimed at Master and PhD students of all related fields such as political science, economics, social sciences, education research, public policy, public administration. Applicants must have University student status and be available to work in Paris between three and six months at the OECD headquarters in Paris, France, earliest start date is 1 October 2017.
Part of the OECD’s Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI), the SEG project works through analytical research, peer learning seminars, and thematic conferences to bring together state-of-the-art conceptual thinking with country experiences and concrete tools. In 2017-18 the project will address issues related to new modes of governance and indicator development. Candidates will have an interest in education governance as well as any or all of these skills:
- Research and analysis;
- Expertise in governance, stakeholder inclusion, capacity building;
- Knowledge of research methodology (quantitative and/or qualitative);
- Editing and proofreading papers for publication;
- Event organisation;
- Strong writing skills in English;
- Good team-player and comfortable working in a multicultural environment.

Education Policy: International Study Tour
The Melbourne Graduate School of Education has been running international study tours as part of the subject EDUC90163 Education Policy: International Study.
The study tour provides the opportunity to see how education systems function and the extent to which they provide all groups of young people with meaningful opportunities in a rapidly changing and increasing globalised world.
Some of the cities that students have visited in past include Copenhagen, London, Venice, and in 2017 the study tour will visit Singapore, London and Berlin. Information on the 2018 study tour will be made available early 2018, stay tuned for more information.
