Meet Winnie Nelson

Master of TESOL

What is your career/where are you working now?

I’m currently working as an English trainer at Baxter Institute in Melbourne CBD. I teach English to international adult students ranging from age 18 to 50 who wish to improve their English in an English-speaking country for future studies and work purposes.

What inspired you to enrol in your course at MGSE?

MGSE has always been a top-notch education provider and during the time when I was deciding between MGSE and other universities, I looked at the university global rankings by subject. MGSE has been consistently ranked in the top 5 in the world for Education, and I thought well, this is an opportunity not to be missed. I wanted to be a part of this prestigious school as I believed they would be able to provide me with quality education. I was right.

What is the best thing you gained from doing the course?

Good friends from different parts of the world! Of course, apart from that, it’s the quality and breadth of knowledge that the course equips you with that I found useful throughout my entire time in MGSE, which I am now able to put into practise.

What did you find most challenging about the course?

Being able to keep up with the assignments. There were challenging at times, but with the help of my supportive lecturers and course mates, I managed to overcome them.

Who/what was your greatest support?

I would say my parents were my greatest support, emotionally, psychologically and financially. Without them, I wouldn’t be here today. They were the ones who convinced me to test my limits because they believed in me. I can’t thank them enough.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about doing this course?

Go for it! It is definitely worth your time as MGSE only provides quality education. MGSE also offers financial support and scholarships for those who are eligible. If I could do the course again, I would J

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to do my research degree at MGSE when the time is right. After attending MSGE, I know I wouldn’t want to do it anywhere else. Hopefully it will be soon.

Is there anything else you would like to add about your experience?

Join in on the events and activities on campus! That’s how I got to know more people and expanded my social network. MGSE isn’t just a place for education, it’s also a place for gaining a global cultural understanding, and forming life-long friendships.
