Artists engaging the community
ArtPlay and Signal are unique community arts spaces managed by the City of Melbourne, which offer a wide variety of artist-led programs for children and young people aged from three to their early twenties. Research at both these sites, shows that families and young people seek public arts programs that emphasize creative and personalised learning across the arts. The investigations have generated a multi-dimensional representation of the artist and organisational practices that engage children, young people and families, which includes collaboration, artist modelling and transformative environments. Reports about this research, as a result of an ARC Linkage grant and an Australia Council for the Arts Creative Partnerships Initiative, will be launched on February 27th.
