Gender and education post 2015: Mapping global/regional/local policy platforms

With the expiry in 2015 of the global Millennium Development Goals, the convergence of actors in the post 2015 process presents a unique opportunity to examine how interests play out to determine the context of global development for the next 15 years. This seminar draws on a project mapping policy platforms that centre gender and education within a global framework of human rights and development. Zulaikha Shihab is from the Maldives and has a keen interest in gender, education and foreign affairs. Zulaikha previously held a position with the UN's Global Compact Cities Programme and supported the development of their new volume, Cities for the Future: Innovative and principles-based approaches to urban equity, sustainability and governance (2015). She has worked with the Australian Red Cross where she researched gender and climate change and with the Public Policy Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka.
