Mathematics Education: Our Expectations

Date: 01 April, 2014

Time: 12:30 - 1:30PM

Venue:  Rm Q372, 234 Queensberry St, Carlton

Dr Jerome Droniou addresses the question of what university mathematics lecturers and tutors expect from students enrolling in 1st year sciences.

He will cover both general work skills, as well as specificities related to mathematics. These expectations form the basic ground on which tertiary mathematics skills are built.

This presentation is based on the (preliminary) findings of a research group from the Institute of Research on Mathematics Teaching at University Montpellier 2, that has been working on the issues faced by students in mathematics during their transition from high school to university.
