NCVER 2013 Webinar Series: Is VET in Schools an effective pathway to further education?
Date: Wednesday 30 October
Time: 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Presenters: Kira Clarke, MGSE and Cain Polidano, Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research. Facilitated by Rod Camm, Managing Director, NCVER
VET in Schools programs provide students with the option to undertake vocationally oriented subjects during secondary school. These programs are used for a number of purposes, such as a retention strategy for those not catered for within the traditional curriculum, to a 'taster' of a particular occupational field. There are also differences in the structure of these programs across schools, for example whether work-integrated learning is included. Furthermore, differences exist in how jurisdictions incorporate VET in Schools into their senior secondary certificates.
This webinar focuses on whether VET in Schools provides effective pathways to further education for students. The lead authors of two NCVER reports on VET in Schools, Kira Clarke and Cain Polidano, will participate in a facilitated discussion around the themes of research.
