Mary Catharine Lennon is the Senior Research Analyst at the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO), an arms-length research agency of the Ontario government, where she leads projects on establishing and measuring learning outcomes. She is also a PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto in International and Comparative Higher Education Theory and Policy, focusing her work on the impact of learning outcomes activities. Mary Catharine's presentation will review the key activities in the Ontario quality assurance landscape and discuss learning outcomes activities undertaken, including participation in an international assessment of civil engineering (AHELO), piloting a test of generic skills (CLA), developing sector specific learning outcomes (Tuning), and supporting institutions in implementing learning outcomes through a consortium.
